OPALS ARE READY FOR MELBOURNE!

The Australian Opals are gearing up for back-to-back games against China at John Cain Arena. 

In the lead up to the FIBA Women’s World Cup in September, fans will be given the opportunity to watch their Aussie heroes on home soil, as they face China in what is sure to be a world-class match-up. 

Opals and Chinese fans will descend on John Cain Arena, in the heart of Melbourne’s sporting complex on Tuesday 7th and Thursday 9th July 2026, for an important part of the preparation for the World Cup. 

The Opals are unbeaten in 2026, after winning five games in the World Cup Qualifiers, so the team will be keen to keep this winning streak running.  

Maddi Rocci, Amy Atwell, Alicia Froling and Zitina Aokuso are a few names who will feature for the Opals, but one player to watch this series is 18-year-old Sitaya Fagan. This series marks her debut for the Opals, which is sure to be the first of many appearances for Sitaya in the national team.
